Syunik province is home to one of the oldest and most popular megalithic sites, known as Karahunj (or “army of stones”). The over 200 stones, pierced by 5cm holes are thought to have been used for stargazing.

Veer off the beaten track to a place where time stands still in the breathtaking cave city of Khndzoresk. Just east, the incredible Garni Canyon, interspersed with pagan temples, displays unique, colourful basalt columns.
